I hope you have a wonderful, wonderful day, mellon-nin! <3

I feel a bit silly posting in triumph about this since I past the age when most people pass their driving test. But driving has been such a challenge for me, and I have dreaded taking the test. I mean, really, REALLY dreaded it. I hardly slept last night because my mind kept rehearsing parallel parking over and over again. XD

I'm so, SO grateful to God, because I know it was all Him. I was a nervous wreck this morning (honestly, I just about threw up after breakfast), but on the actual test I was able to actually think rationally and take everything slowly and calmly. Not a small thing for me - I'm normally so quick to get flustered and thrown off my game. No catastrophic, dyslexic mistakes occurred, like I feared they would.

I've had a terribly stress-filled week, and last night I hardly got any sleep at all because my brain was teeming with All the Things, including plenty of problems that I know can't do anything about, thankyouverymuchbrain. I've finally wrapped up at least one of two nerve-wracking graphic design jobs that I've been angsting over, but now I need a way to decompress, and most of the books I'm reading at the moment are not quite light reading material.

What I'd really love to read is some of the fluffiest H/C fic ever invented. \o/ Any chance I could beg some multi-fandom recs off of my flist? Some of my favorite fandoms, with favorite hero to see in need of H/C added in parenthesis: Lord of the Rings (Aragorn), SGA (Shep), SG1 (Daniel) White Collar (Neal), NCIS (Tony), NCIS:LA (Callen) and Sherlock BBC (Watson).

That's not to say, of course, that I don't welcome any gen fic you might recommend within aforementioned fandoms, no matter the designated recipient of H/C. ;) I would also welcome self-recs as well as "old" stories I've already read (y'know, those stories that everyone in the fandom has to have already read at some point because they're so good - all those extremely re-readable fics).

Bring on the fluffiness. *puppy-dog eyes*

Dear Reviewer,

If you find the MAJORITY of the protagonists in a fandom to be "annoying, abrasive, and in-your-face," then WHY are you reading fanfiction (AU fanfiction, for that matter), and - moreover - actually taking the time to leave a snide review about how you just don't like any of them?

I mean, really. WHYYY?

Comment on this post, saying that you want to play and I will choose five interests from your profile. You will then explain what they mean/why you are interested in them. Post this along with your answers in your own journal so that others can play along.

questions from

She chose from my interest list the following topics:

1. Chapstick. Because... I prefer Blistex! Ooh, it's ON!! hee hee.
2. Esimas. Because... who/what, and it's apparently something only between you and your sister and what is this meme if not incredibly nosy. :>D
3. Coffee... because I'm currently sipping at my first cup this morning and COFFEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.
4. Elladan and Elrohir... because it's becoming a sub-theme here. *g* And Elladan and Elrohir.

Last weekend, I got babysit my two great nieces - unexpectedly, which was stressful at first (mostly because of a 3 hour round trip drive to pick them up and drop them off, because my niece doesn't have a car). But it was totally worth it in the end just to have some time with the two of them. They really are sweet kids.

Yesterday, I got to help with a friend's graduation party, working in the kitchen, and having a blast. Really, being part of the "staff" at a party is so much more relaxing for me than having to stand around making small talk. (Although I did love every snatch of conversation I got to have with the graduate - a fellow book lover, and one of the few people I actually dare discuss politics with. She's such an awesome, passionate person. ^^ )

And Tuesday we leave to go to a cabin we rent every year. Ten days of glorious relaxation. \o/ I've been having a lot of fun doing graphics (and actually getting paid to do some of it!), so I may have to work on that, along with writing (I'm sort-of-kind-of persevering on my Noir/Cyberpunk story), and reading some C.S. Lewis and Rex Stout.

One goal I've had this summer is to write a couple of short stories and actually submit them to contests/magazines. Anyone know of some good places to submit? Contests that aren't scams? Places where I might have a hope and prayer of at least not having to pay to submit? I mostly do science-fiction/fantasy (and all fiction).

Tonight will be the third time we've taken Captain to puppy play day (play night, technically speaking), and it's really great to see him gradually becoming braver about meeting other dogs. The big marshmallow could squish any one of them - all of them being toy breeds and/or young puppies. Pfft. Having your sixty pound "puppy" hide behind you is rather adorable, though...

More to the point, puppy play day is pretty much my new favorite form of free therapy. A whole hour of sitting on the floor and having puppies jump in and out of your lap for on-demand cuddles is my kind of heaven.

Also? BB collies are ADORABLE.

So, I've been working on my people-drawing skills, and being more imaginative/less references picture dependent. Despite being agonizingly slow, at least I've had some success fun. ^^ And I'm beginning to love digital painting. Really, really love it (especially since imbecamiel has been letting me borrow her Bamboo drawing tablet \o/).

In the spirit of not being so shy about sharing my art (and, also, not allowing myself to spend another week nitpicking this), I thought I'd post my most recent digital painting. It's of a character named Violet Dorsey, from a cyberpunk/noir story I'm writing.

Chai lattes and Cabin Pressure are two of my new favorite things (thanks to scarvenartist, for introducing me to the latter \o/). I'm already terribly attached to prefacing suggestions by saying, "Hey Chief. I could be wrong..." XD

Also, I've realized recently how many stories I've left to sit in folders unfinished. Some of them are so close to being finished, too. Seriously, whyyy? I'm even happy with whole scenes from some of these neglected stories. I'm simply far, far too distractible. (And when I'm enjoying writing a story, I've noticed, too, that I tend to not want the fun of writing it to end, which undoubtedly contributes to my inability to put the last paragraph on story... Unfortunately, this leads to lost trains of thought, and a lack of momentum for a satisfying end).

This scatterbrained-ness is also be evidenced by the fact that I have no place on the 'net where I've archived all my fanfiction. Right now I think I have it split up by approximate thirds between FFN, LJ, and AO3. It's like every time I get interested in a new fandom I need a new archive and audience. Ugh. Must. Organize.
